Summary of CDL Driver at Layton Services:

Accountable for operating a 6-axle dump truck to haul materials to and from job sites throughout central Ohio. Drivers must be capable of maneuvering vehicles in varying conditions, adapting to changing site requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation. Candidates should have a solid safety mindset and a proactive, self-motivated work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate 6-axle dump truck to transport material safely and efficiently.
• Maneuver truck safely into loading and unloading positions on varied terrain.
• Inspect vehicles daily to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency systems are functioning properly.
• Verify that all load-related documentation is accurate and compliant with legal weight limits.
• Secure loads and equipment per safety guidelines.
• Report vehicle issues, accidents, or traffic violations immediately.
• Maintain required driving logs and documentation in compliance with DOT and company regulations.
• Communicate with supervisors and team members.
• Follow verbal or written work orders to complete assignments.
• Exhibit a responsible, safety-first attitude always
• All additional responsibilities as required by the role.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid and insurable Class A CDL
• Valid DOT Medical Card
• Minimum 2 years' experience operating a 6-axle dump truck
• Ability to occasionally assist with loading/unloading equipment.
• Understanding of DOT regulations
• Ability to self-load if necessary preferred.
• Strong communication, professionalism, and teamwork
• OSHA 10-Hour; OSHA Trenching and Excavating (training materials will be provided by Layton Services).
